chinese new year 2020 feels like this.
when second guessing decisions becomes second nature and the biggest part of your day,… it’s always nice to get back to something you can do without thinking too much.

so yeah, the cameras have been coming out with me, and coming out of my bag. shutters have been pressed and rolls of film have been rewound and dropped off and then scanned.

photo friends that you can shoot with always help get you flowing once again.
nicer still is having some sort of structure to slot photo malarkey into.
It was everything and everything it was but it just wasnt,… you know what I mean.

there’s stuff you get into, maybe even have a passion for,… and then there’s who you are, and when the two dont like each other,… things get dark.
but going deeper into the dark was the only way out. that’s where that little sliver of light was, where it had always been, where I had last dropped it during one of my self pitying temper tantrums.
all that to say that things are good and with a bit of perspective,… photo malarkey will remain malarkey as it always has been for me. and other more serious malarkey will remain other more serious malarkey.
that’s not to say that one is better than the other waste of time,… far from it.
malarkeys are just parallel universe yous,… and if you can cross back and forth, apply this to that and that to there,.. then, you ,my friend, are sorted.
this was the second time I’ve seen this guy,… only this time was different.
this time a photo had to be taken.
a couple of years of reading this sign everyday can do that to you.
good news is that there used to be a billion of these signs before,…..
they’ve been getting less,… and there’s been a bit more light at the end of the tunnel than before.
but things are still kind of like this,…. not complaining though, …. it used to be much worse.
dont get me wrong, the swings are still in this sorry state,….
and the grass could do with a trim.
recently though, I’ve been feeling like whoever owns this car,…
prepared.
prepared enough that if it did all go tits up, and I did get swallowed by a hippo, it’d be with a widelux in hand and a smile on my face.
